Children and Family Literacy Programs
Alphabet Soup is a cooking program for preschoolers and their parents or caregivers. Cooking skills and healthy eating is promoted, as food is prepared and eaten together. Storytime, songs and play round out the morning.
Books for Babies offers families with newborn babies a bag containing a baby’s book, CD, and community information regarding family programs. Bags are distributed through the Public Health Unit.
Book Under Every Tree distributes books to families receiving hampers at Christmas.
Network for New Parents is a connecting spot for parents and their young children with access to resources and information, a lunch and an exchange of young children's toys, clothes and books.
Intergenerational Café brings high school students and community members together for informal discussions on topics of interest, while sharing a meal.
Intergenerational Cooking brings adults, seniors and youth together to learn skills for healthy eating, cooking and preserving food.
One to One Reading trains community volunteers to read with children in school. Children in the program read with a volunteer and share games that support their reading.
Song and Rhyme is a program for parents or caregivers with babies, toddlers and preschoolers that encourages healthy language development. Participants enjoy rhymes, songs, finger-plays and stories and have access to a resource library.
Adult Literacy Programs
Getting to Know Windows 10 provides information on how Windows 10 operates, what’s new, how to use apps, Microsoft Edge Browser and more.
iPad Workshops offer adults the chance to learn what their iPad can offer them, from getting started to using contacts, calendars, and more.
Telling Our Life Stories is a guided autobiography program for anyone who wants to put their stories on paper. A facilitator guides the group through the reflection and writing process.
