How to Help CBAL Help Your Community

The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy is a charitable non-profit organization dependent on funding, donations and support to deliver its community programs.

Please contact your local community representative to learn about how to donate, sponsor or volunteer at a program or event.

Here's how you can help promote literacy within your community:

  • Join a literacy program in your community.
  • Support your public library.
  • Contact your local Literacy Coordinator for a presentation to your staff, service club, Parent Advisory Committee or other organization.
  • Volunteer at a school, in a literacy program, at your public library, or become a tutor for an adult or child.
  • Read, write or draw, sing nursery rhymes and songs, tell stories and have meaningful conversations at home with your family.
  • Go on family outings and talk about what you have seen and done.
  • Enroll in a class. Learning new things keeps our literacy skills alive.
