Books for Babies
  –  CBAL partners with the Cranbrook Public Library and Interior Health/Public Health Unit nursing staff to provide a bag of learning materials for parents of newborns.
Homework Help
   – Struggling with homework? Parents, teachers, counsellors – know a student who needs some assistance in completing their homework? This program is offered 3 times a week – twice at the Public Library and once at TM Roberts Elementary School. We hope to expand the program to other local schools as the school year progresses.
Cranbrook Public Library: Tuesday: 4:00pm – 5:30pm
TM Roberts Elementary School: Tuesdays: 3:00pm – 4:30pm.
Parkland Middle School: Thursdays: 3:15pm – 4:45pm
This program is offered in partnership with the Cranbrook Public Library and School District # 5.
Learning Connections Cranbrook
   – Closely modeled on the Making Connections program, this series of evenings focuses on how parents can support their children in life long learning. This program encourages children to attend with their parents and quality children’s programming is provided along with dinner for all participants. This is a partnership with School District #5.

Play, Laugh and Learn
   – This 7 week program combines learning activities with play opportunities. Parents are provided with the tools to become their children’s best teacher and children have fun engaging in play activity. Geared for parents with pre-school aged children, the program is open to all families. This program is provided in partnership with the Paq´mi Nuq´yuk Aboriginal Early Years Service (KKCFSS) and the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC.

Alphabet Soup
   – This 6 week program focuses on parents and children aged 3-5 years cooking together. Age appropriate recipes are used to help children learn the joy of cooking in a non-stressful atmosphere. Parents help prepare nutritious lunches for themselves & their
children. This program is provided in partnership with the the Paq´mi Nuq´yuk Aboriginal Early Years Service (KKCFSS) and the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC

Strong Start Learning Centres
   – Drop in learning programs for preschool children and their parents or caregivers. Qualified early childhood educators lead learning activities, including circle time with songs and stories, art and play opportunities to help children be successful when they enter kindergarten. Parents will discover new ways to support their children’s learning at home and make valuable connections in the community. These drop-in programs are open when the schools are open throughout the school year. CBAL manages the StrongStart Learning Centres under contract with School District #5.
Amy Woodland Elementary School: Mon, Wed, Thurs & Fri: 8:45am-11:45am; Tues 12pm – 3pm
Steeples Elementary School: Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri: 9am – 12pm; Wed 12pm-3pm
Young Parents Education Program
   –  Are you between the ages of 16 & 25 and not completed Grade 12? Have a child under 5? Want to continue your education? Then this program may be for you! This program runs 4 days a week and provides an academic instructor, quality children’s programming onsite and a parenting/life/works skills component. Study at your own pace, learn new activities with your child and share a nutritious lunch with other participants. We have continuous intake so if you are interested call Jody at 250-421-0475. This program is provided in partnership with the College of the Rockies, the Community Connections Society of Southeast BC and the Ktunaxa Kinbasket Family and Child Services Society and with support from CAP-C, IDP and School District #5.
“Settling In” – English as Second Language Program
     – group sessions for participants to practise their English skills along with one-to-one tutoring and a monthly gathering for learners, their families and the tutors. This program is provided by CBAL in partnership with the Ministry of Advanced Education and the Canadian Government. We are looking for more tutors (training is provided).
Conversation Café: Every Tuesday evening at 7pm beginning Jan 12 at 46 17th Ave S (Family Connections). All ESL learners are invited to attend this 1 ½ hour opportunity to practice their English in a relaxed group. If there is sufficient interest, we will hold a second evening café and one during the day.
