Children and Family Literacy Programs
Love 2 Learn is an early learning program for children three to five years old and their parents or caregivers. A facilitator leads a circle time with songs, stories, and rhymes. The facilitator models ways in which the parent can engage the child in conversations and activities around literacy. Materials are available for learning through play experiences. The program includes a lending library and ideas to take home.
Mother Goose is a program for parents with babies and toddlers that encourages early language development through rhymes, songs, finger-plays and stories.
Come Read With Me is an opportunity for parents to join their children in their Grade 1 classrooms to take part in activities and learn strategies to support their children's reading.
Adult Literacy Programs
Adult Tutoring Program pairs trained volunteers to work with adults seeking to improve their reading, writing, speaking, and/or numeracy skills.
Books Everywhere places boxes full of wonderful books for all ages in 14 locations around town. Books can be read at the location or taken home. When you're done with a book, pass it to a friend or put it back in the “Books Everywhere!” box.
English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes & Conversation Class offer small group sessions for individuals seeking to improve their English, including reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Tech Time offers seniors an opportunity to improve their basic technology skills using computers and iPads. Each session includes a mini-lesson and time to get help with individual questions.
