Parent-Child Mother Goose - songs, stories and finger-games (in English and Russian) are taught to parents so that they may share them with their infants and toddlers as they grow. . Childcare and a snack are provided and a mobile resource centre of books for parents and brochures about services for families and children in the area is available for use. PCMG is a partnership with CBAL and the Supported Childcare Program, Family Place Castlegar.

One to One - community volunteers are trained to work one on one with school children who need a little extra help with their reading. Each child receives .5 hr of tutoring, four days a week for 10 weeks.
WE Graham School – October thru December 2007.

 

Stories in Motion - Stories in Motion, created by Marguerite Wood. In it stories come to life through movement as children respond to a story and retell it in the language of gesture.
Vallican Whole School – November and December 2007.
Grades 2 & 3; two lessons per week, six week session
Co-Sponsored by CBAL and the school.

 

Oral Storytelling with Barry Gray - oral storytelling workshop series with a focus on family history and family connections.
Taking place within three schools, Vallican Whole, Winlaw and WE Graham elementary schools - December 2007 and January 2008. Four sessions within each school.
Co-sponsored by CBAL and the schools

 

Tots Playtime Plus - Parent and Child drop-in group, modelled on CBAL’s Love to Learn Program (free play, circle-time, crafts, connection, learning together).
Tuesdays 10:00-12:00, Slocan Park Hall, October to May 2008

 

A Book Under Every Tree - hoping to provide every home in the area with reading material (dependent on support from donors).

 

Roots of Empathy - is a parenting program for children delivered in school classrooms. A baby is introduced in each class and visits throughout the year. The children participate in a curriculum to identify the developmental traits of the baby, discuss various aspects of child raising, and explore their own emotions as they observe the baby. This program is designed to assist children to develop empathy
Brent Kennedy School, Crescent Valley; Mondays beginning October 2007 and lasting until June 2008. Co-Sponsored by CBAL and the school
