Books for Babies - a canvas bag with baby’s book, t-shirt that says “Read to Me” and community information regarding programs for parenting and for children is given to families with newborns through the public health unit.
Books and Brunch - a collaboration with Salmo Community Services, the Salmo Public Library and Salmo Literacy. The main objective is to instil the importance of reading aloud to children to parents. Activities are arranged to facilitate this learning, brunch is provided and a book is taken home at the end of the day.
This program runs in February 2008.
Parent-Child Mother Goose - rhymes, songs, finger-plays and stories are taught to parents and children aged newborn to 2 years over a period of several weeks.
This program is offered Mondays at the library from 10-11:15 a.m.; ongoing until the middle of December and then again in the new year
Reading Buddies - local seniors are trained to read with children in school.
Women and Writing - is a weekly writing group for women. Emphasis is on reading and writing poetry together, journaling and sharing favourite books and authors together.
This program runs Mondays from 6:30-8:00pm at Salmo Community Services until the middle of December and then again in the new year.
Homework Club - kids get help with their homework, connect with friends and enjoy a snack. This is an ongoing club that runs on
Thursdays at the library from 3-5p.m.
Adult computer training- for adults who are ‘afraid’ of the computer. Get help opening programs, formatting and editing texts, saving documents, printing documents and understanding the keyboard and mouse skills. Times and dates for this program are pending please phone if you are interested in more details.
Love 2 Learn - a parent child group with an emphasis on playing to learn. Storytime, crafts, resources and snacks are provided.
