Family Literacy Drop In - families are invited to drop by or call with any questions or requests for information. This is an opportunity to ask about any concerns, our current programs, workshops or use the Community Book Exchange program.
Books for Babies - a bag with baby’s book and community information regarding programs for parenting and for children is given to families with newborns through the public health unit. Each family is then invited to a library Books for Babies program where they can relax with snacks, singing and a library tour.
Family Night Out - an evening program for the whole family to enjoy Homework club, preschool circle, storytelling, and family group activities are all part of this fun time. Families are encouraged to work and learn together.
Family Tutoring - community volunteers are trained to read with children in school. Children in the program read with a volunteer 4 times a week for ½ hour. Offered in partnership with local schools
Stress Free Reading At Home Workshops - is a parent workshop that is linked closely to the One to One tutor training. The program’s aim is three fold: to share ideas, materials and stories with parents; to help parents lessen the stress and increase the enjoyment of reading at home with their children; and to answer specific questions and concerns parents may have around supporting their children’s reading.
Family Night Out - This is an evening program for the whole family to enjoy together. Family activities, preschool circle time, storytelling, family games, and multi-age group activities are some of the features of this fun time together. Different theme each week!

Roots of Empathy - a parenting program for children delivered in school classrooms. A baby is introduced in each class and visits throughout the year. The children participate in a curriculum to identify the developmental traits of the baby, discuss various aspects of child raising, and explore their own emotions as they observe the baby. This program is designed to assist children to develop empathy.
Parents as Literacy Supporters (PALS) - a program offered in partnership with School District #19. Each PALS session is an opportunity for parents to join their children at kindergarten to take part in activities and learn strategies to help children's language, literacy and numeracy development. Please call for schools and dates.
Parents of Primary Students (POPS) - an extension of the PALS program for parents of Grade One and Two students. Session focuses will include quality family experiences and learning around reading, writing and math. The program includes working together at stations, adult sessions and make and take bags! Please call for schools and dates.
Revelstoke Mother Goose Program/Little Gosings Activity Time - Come join us for a chance to share rhymes, songs, stories and giggles with your infant – 3 year old! It is also an excellent chance to meet other parents! Ask us about Little Goslings Activity Time for older siblings. Don’t let the name Mother Goose mislead you – Dads and other family members are welcome too! Please call 837-6669 to register.

One to One Volunteers Needed! - Call to become a trained volunteer working with children who are struggling with reading. Our strategies are aimed at increasing self-confidence and skills. Volunteers make a difference!

Family Tutoring - a tutor is provided to families in which some member has identified difficulty with reaching learning goals. Parents receive assistance in how to help and support their children’s learning. If you or someone you know would like to access this program please call Tracy at 837-6669.
Story Adventure Kit Lending Library - Fun take-home kits to borrow and
discover the magic of imagination. Kits will include a book and engaging activities for families to explore together. These kits will be available at the StrongStart Centre and the Child Care Society. Call 837-6669 for more information.
Revelstoke Book Exchange - The book exchange offers free books for all ages to borrow and bring back or keep and treasure. There are 7 locations – the Community Centre, Family Literacy, QV Hospital waiting room, Family Laundry, R.A.O.P., the Food Bank and the StrongStart Centre. If you have books you would like to donate or want more information, please call Mary, 837-5739
