StrongStart Early Learning Centres - are free early learning programs for preschool children and their parents or caregivers. Qualified early childhood educators lead learning activities, including stories, music and art to help children get ready for success in kindergarten. These drop-in programs are open throughout the school year.
Parents and caregivers attending the Early Learning Centres can expect to participate in organized play activities with their children. Parents will also discover new ways to support their children’s learning at home and make valuable connections in the community.

The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy manages the StrongStart Early Learning Centres under contract with School District #5.

Books for Babies - CBAL, Cranbrook partners with the Public Library and the Public Health Unit to distribute a free canvas book bag of books and other learning materials for parents to share with their babies.
Homework Help - Teachers, Parents, Counsellors: Do you know a students who is struggling? You can refer them to Homework Help at the Cranbrook Public Library. The tutors are fully-qualified teachers able to provide individualized, informal and friendly support. The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and the Cranbrook Public Library partner to offer this free program.

‘Settling In’ – English as a Second Language program - Need help learning English? Or know someone who does? This program matches immigrants with volunteer tutors to give one-to-one ESL help. Group classes are also provided. The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy and the College of the Rockies partner to offer this free program.
